💡 How to check if your Samsung is compatible?

Go to Settings → Connections → SIM card manager. If you see an option "Download an eSIM" or "Add mobile plan", your device is compatible.

Installing an eSIM on Samsung Galaxy

Samsung's One UI interface makes eSIM installation very intuitive. Here is the exact procedure:

1

Open Settings

From the home screen, swipe down to access Settings (gear icon) or find it in the app drawer.

2

Go to Connections → SIM card manager

Tap "Connections" then "SIM card manager". You will see your current SIM cards and an option to add a new one.

3

Tap "Add mobile plan"

Select "Download an eSIM" or "Add mobile plan". The camera opens automatically to scan the QR code.

4

Scan the QR code GoDataTravel

Open the GoDataTravel email received after your purchase and point the camera at the QR code. The eSIM profile download takes 1 to 2 minutes.

5

Confirm and configure your eSIM

Name your eSIM (e.g. "GoData Travel") then set it as your mobile data line. Keep your main SIM active for calls.

Installing an eSIM on Google Pixel

Installation on Pixel is slightly different since Google uses stock Android. Here is how to proceed:

1

Open Settings → Network & Internet

In Settings, tap "Network & Internet" (or "Connections" depending on your Android version).

2

Tap "SIM Cards" then the "+" button

The "SIM Cards" section lists your active lines. Tap "+" to add a new eSIM.

3

Select "Scan carrier QR code"

Choose this option and scan the QR code from your GoDataTravel email. Installation takes about 60 seconds.

4

Enable eSIM for mobile data

Once installed, set the GoDataTravel eSIM as your data line in SIM preferences. Your main SIM remains active for calls.

📌 Pixel 9 — eSIM-only option

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is available as eSIM-only (no physical SIM slot) in some markets. If this is your case, your GoDataTravel eSIM will work perfectly as a secondary eSIM.

Common issues and solutions

❌ "QR code not recognized"

Make sure the screen displaying the QR code is at full brightness with no glare. Try zooming in on the image or requesting a resend of the GoDataTravel email from your account area.

❌ "Profile download failed"

This issue often occurs without an internet connection. Connect to Wi-Fi before scanning the QR code — an internet connection is required to download the eSIM profile.

❌ "This eSIM is already in use on another device"

Each eSIM QR code is single-use and linked to one device. If you have changed phones, contact GoDataTravel support for a profile transfer.

❌ eSIM is installed but no signal

Check that the eSIM is correctly set as the mobile data line in SIM settings. Disable then re-enable airplane mode to force a network reconnection.

FAQ — eSIM Android

Can I transfer my eSIM from one Samsung to another?

No, eSIM profiles are linked to a specific device. If you change phones, you will need to obtain a new eSIM profile. Contact GoDataTravel support and they can generate a new one if your plan is still active.

My Samsung was bought in Korea, is it compatible?

Some Samsung devices sold in South Korea do not have eSIM enabled. Check in Settings → SIM card manager. If the option doesn't appear, eSIM is not available on your variant.

How many eSIMs can I install on my Samsung?

Most recent Samsung Galaxy devices support up to 10 stored eSIM profiles but only one can be active at a time (alongside a physical SIM). You can keep plans from different countries and activate them based on your destination.

Does eSIM work with unlocked Samsung devices?

Yes, all unlocked Samsung devices (not carrier-locked) are fully compatible. If your device is carrier-locked, you may need to have it unlocked first.
